So here I am in Sicily and it seems people have been talking about the crazy American from Las Vegas who does Shakespeare theatre. I got a couple interesting calls.
One was from HGTV asking about maybe doing an episode of House Hunters on me. More on that later.
The other was even more interesting. It was from a major theater in Rome asking if I would be available to talk to them about doing Shakespeare in English in Rome. Sure, why not, right? So off I went for a meeting with them at their place in central Roma.
First had to get out of Sicily…
Never any rush there… these guys were all around the car…
Then hit the big city, an hour’s flight over the Mediterranean…
When I got there, my friend said “Meet me at the Trevi Fountain at 4”. I didn’t realize until that moment that I’ve been waiting all my life for someone to say: meet me at Trevi Fountain.
In case you don’t know what that is, it looks like this and is where the world comes to make their Roman Wishes:
And if you don’t know what it is, never speak to me again.
I got to my B&B, and then took a stroll over to the fountain and on my way I went past a few places…
Seems like a theater on every block…
Had time for a little lunch… this is the cacio e pepe from Anthony Bourdain’s secret ristorante. Hint: look at the plate for a clue… and yes, it is all that.
But now this is the theater where I have my meeting…
All I will say is: first meeting went well. There will be another.
Back to Sicily, stop for lunch. Here’s the view from my table:
I don’t know how they made that sauce but it’s like nothing I have ever tasted before…
These guys were swimming around just a few hours earlier.
Stay tuned for more details about what it means to make and have a Roman wish.
